Not posted anything on here for ages, so here we go. After visiting ARKVFX in Sheffield, and looking at what they do, i’ve come to a conclusion that I don’t know jack, but whilst I was there I used some software called LightWave modeller and layout, to produce this… probably the best thing i’ve done so far.

I have been messing around with Blender texures and materials to try and make realistic metal texture, in this case silver and gold.
Then I had a try at making some realistic glass. I quickly made a scene of different coloured blocks to show the full effect of the glass. The object I made into glass is a monkey’s head (preset object in Blender)
Take a look…
I then combined what i’d learnt and made a glass table with metal legs. Voila!
Instead of having to go through all the trouble of making a domain, inflow, outflow, fluid etc, I just wanted to know how to make water, for a lake or something. I found a tutorial on how to make a texture that looks like water. I then inserted keyframes and moved the texture along the XY and Z axis, to make it look like the water was rippling and moving. I also added a EnvMap to make it look even more realistic. Here’s how it turned out.
I’ve been messing around with Blender’s particle system and managed to create some grass. Excuse the moving camera and animation, still messing around to get used to it
I made a short video of a room being flooded. It’s a little speeded up. There’s a drainage hole just underneath the camera and the inflow is at the top of the stairs (out of sight). Didn’t have much time to apply any textures or anything. Enjoy…
Again, following a simple tutorial I made this ‘Hi-Tech Tunnel’. It took about an hour and half to make and render. Here’s the link to the tutorial and a finished clip of the animation.
It doesn’t look very good as youtube’s quality is poor, however I will try and host a longer, better version somewere else and post it on here as soon as possible.
Not posted anything on here for a few days. Firstly I have been experimenting with particles and physics in blender, and tried making some hair. It went horribly wrong so I will post it on here when I manage to get it right. Secondly I been following some more tutorials to expand my knowledge of the software. I completed one concentrating on the SubSurf modifier, and learnt how to use some new tools along the way. Here’s the tutorial if you’re interested, followed by my finished result. Approx time, about 40 minutes.
This is a little animation I made, using Blender. I made it by creating the basic cloth and cubes, but setting the cube’s keyframes at different possitions, making them move smoothly away from under the cloth. Take a look.
Whilst working through various tutorials on Blender, I came across it’s game engine. When you have made a scene, you can interact with things or set them interacting with each other, but as it’s a game engine, you cannot save it as an animation. It is all done in real time. However, I came across a solution. I managed to set the game engine going, and then set it rendering from the camera view. Then exported it as this little clip, involving the physics of falling dominos. Although it doesn’t just have to be dominos. It could be a building collapsing, or anything. Enjoy.
